July 1, 2016

The Danish brand Tonsure won the 2016/17 International Woolmark Prize Europa regional final for menswear at an awards event held in Milan, Italy.

Yesterday nominees in the menswear category showcased their capsule collections consisting of six looks at the regional finals for this year’s International Woolmark Prize in Milan.

According to the Woolmark Prize the two owners of the brand Malte Flagstad and Adam El-Zayat Hjorth won over the menswear judges with their varied use of wool and strong design.

“They have used wool in an intelligent and very real way that is desirable for a guy to wear today, bonding wool with neoprene for outerwear,” explains menswear judge Neil Barrett.

The finalists each received an AU$ 50,000 financial contribution towards their next collection and an invitation to participate in the international finals.

Tonsure will thus represent Europe at the International Woolmark Prize global finals in January 2017, during London Collections Men for the chance to win AU$ 100,000 and an opportunity to be stocked in the world’s most important retailers and boutiques.

“We feel amazing. It is super exiting to be a part of the final and representing Europe. This regional prize will help us move on the the next level,” Malte Flagstad, designer and founder at Tonsure said.
