HRH Crown Princess Mary discusses sustainability with Vogue Australia

July 5, 2016

In the August issue of Vogue Australia, Crown Princess Mary talks about her work with sustainable fashion and giving women in the textile industry a voice.

The Australian-born Crown Princess Mary of Denmark discussed one of her most passionate projects when she in connection with the Copenhagen Fashion Summit in May, spoke sustainable fashion with Vogue Australia for the magazine's August edition, where the royal couple adorn the frontpage.

“It will take time to create real and sustainable change. If we are talking about the textile and fashion industry, it is one of the most female-dominated industries in the world and yet many of these working women are voiceless," said Crown Princess Mary and further underlines the role Her Royal Heighness sees for herself in the process towards sustainability.

”I do use the platform I have built up over the years as a vocal and passionate voice for the empowerment of women and girls and the protection and respect of their human rights to bring attention to this,” Crown Princess Mary said to Editor in Chief of Vogue Australia, Edwina McCann.

That dedication was also very much top of mind in Her Royal Heighness' opening speech at Copenhagen Fashion Summit, where she also spoke about human rights.
